Christina Aguilera Facts:

Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980 in New York. Her childhood was marked by her violent father, who often mistreated her and her mother. After the divorce, Christina Aguilera grew up with her sister and mother in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Already as a child she wanted to become a famous singer and attended numerous talent competitions. In 1993 she hosted the Mickey Mouse Club, from which other pop stars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears emerged. After the show was cancelled a year later, Aguilera began to record her first demo songs and finally got a record deal.
With her song "Genie in a Bottle" the singer had her big international breakthrough in 1998 and reached number one in the US charts. The album "Christina" and the two following songs also made it to the top of the US charts.
Dissatisfied with the teen image her management tried to impose on her, Aguilera parted company with her manager. For her further work she marketed herself rougher and with more artistic depth.
In 2001 she recorded the highly successful song "Lady Marmelade" with MyaLil' Kim and Pink, which made it to first place in numerous countries and even received a Grammy Award. The song is the title song of the movie "Moulin Rouge".
The image change and the resulting sexiness were received by the American public not only positively. Aguilera's second English album "Stripped" and the single releases were less successful than her debut.
The singer caused controversy at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003 when she, Madonna and Britney Spears exchanged kisses during the opening show.
In 2004 there was another image change towards a more mature appearance of the singer. The third album "Back to Basics" is based on the music of the 20's, 30's and 40's and was internationally very successful.
Christina Aguilera became active for the first time as an actor in 2011, when she appeared alongside Cher in the music film "Burlesque". The following albums "Bionic" and "Lotus", however, sold below expectations and could hardly continue their previous successes.
Aguilera's most successful song to date is "Moves Like Jagger", recorded in 2011 in collaboration with Maroon 5. It reached first place in the USA and numerous other countries.
In 2018 the album "Liberation" was released with the singles "Accelerate" (featuring Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz), "Twice" and "Fall in Line" (featuring Demi Lovato). This year Aguilera presents her new album on her big Liberation tour.
