Their unique sound combines indie rock and soul. For this new style Florence and the Machine was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for “Best New Artist”. The single “The Dog Days Are Over” is one of their best known tracks. Florence Welch actually dropped out of art school, where she studied fashion, to become a rock star. Lead singer Florence Welch is known for her red hair, but naturally she is brunette and has been dying it since the age of 9. Florence Welch and Taylor Swift are good friends. Taylor Swift once said, "What sets Florence apart? Everything. Every time I've been around her, she is the most magnetic person in the room.
