About Foo Fighters

After Curt Cobain’s tragic suicide on April 5, 1994, Dave Grohl’s career as Nirvana’s drummer ended with Nirvana’s separation. Just nine months after Nirvana's end, Dave Grohl founded the Foo Fighters and recorded the first album on his own. Since Dave Grohl was not able to perform the album live on his own, he put the band together with Pat Smear, Nate Mendel and William Goldsmith.
In contrast to the grunge sound of Nirvana, the music style of the Foo Fighters can be described as classic rock, which initially disappointed Nirvana fans. In the beginning, the media also compared the Foo Fighters almost exclusively with Nirvana.
In 1997, the Foo Fighters were finally recognized as an independent band thanks to their successful album "The Color And The Shape". With hits like "Monkey Wrench" and "Everlong" the Foo Fighters belonged to the most successful rockers of the 90s. At the same time, however, it came to conflicts inside the band which led to the sacking of guitarist Pat Smear and drummer William Goldsmith. The two were replaced by Franz Stahl and Taylor Hawkins.
In 1999, the third album "There Is Nothing Left To Lose", in which Chris Shiflett played the guitar, was released. For the album, the Foo Fighters received a Grammy Award in the category Best Rock Album. For their video for "Learn To Fly" they won another Grammy.
After this success, Dave Grohl worked with Queens Of The Stone Age and Tenacious D for a short time.
With the fourth album "One By One", the Foo Fighters experimented with a slightly rougher and psychedelic sound in 2002.
The tour for their fifth album "In Your Honor" was one of the largest and longest tours of the Foo Fighters, in which they also stopped in New Zealand and Australia.
In 2010, the Foo Fighters, which now include Pat Smear again, released the album "Wasting Light” in collaboration with the former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Hüsker-Dü frontman Bob Mold.
Their latest album “Concrete And Gold”, released in 2017, the Foo Fighters will present at their huge Concrete And Gold Tour 2018 in the US and Canada.
