Ludovico Einaudi facts

Ludovico Einaudi is one of the most famous and popular composers of the 20th century and plays his concerts almost exclusively in sold-out halls.
The Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Maria Enrico Einaudi was born in Turin in 1955 as the son of a wealthy and respected family. Musical talent seems to run in the family: Einaudi's grandfather was a composer and conductor, his daughter is a singer. Ludovico Einaudi's other grandfather was Italian President from 1948 to 1955.
Einaudi attended the Guiseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan and learned to play the piano already at an early age. In 1982, he got a scholarship to study at the Tanglewood Music Center in the USA.
Ludovico Einaudi achieved success as a composer of film music. In addition to numerous other projects, he wrote the soundtrack for the movie "The Big Money" in 1988. In the mid-90s he found his own style in piano solos, which were inspired by artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto or Philip Glass. Even pop musicians like Radiohead, Björk and Coldplay became a great source of inspiration for him. Einaudi's compositions are characterized by precision, lightness and minimalism, while at the same time expressing great emotions.
After expanding his reputationquickly in Italy, he thrilled the UK in 1997 with his album "Le Onde".
After arriving at the top of the British classic charts, he managed to make his international breakthrough. Following this success, Einaudi experimented with various guest musicians and genre mixes on his album "Eden Roc".
In the UK, he reached number one in the Classical charts with the album "Una Mattina" in 2004 and played his first sold-out tour. Despite the great success in the UK, Ludovico Einaudi was even more popular in his home country Italy. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in Rome.
In 2007, he released his most commercially successful album "Divenire", which he completed with the Royal Liverpool Orchestra and with digital effects. The album reached the top of the classic charts in Europe and even stormed the pop charts in Italy. For the album, Einaudi went on his biggest tour ever and gave 80 concerts all over Europe. As his popularity continued to increase, he also visited Asia and the US for concerts.
For the soundtrack of the movie "The Intouchables", Einaudi contributed some pieces in 2012.
After his album "In A Time Lapse" that he released in 2013, the two albums "Taranta Project" and "Elements" were followed in 2015.
Ludovico Einaudi lives at the vineyard of his grandparents in Piedmont most of the time.
