About P!nk

When P!nk was still a child her parents divorced which put a lot of strain on her and made her relationship with her mother more and more painful. P!nk began taking drugs at the age of 11 and eventually dropped out of school. While working in a fast-food chain, she wrote numerous poems in which she processed her experiences.
The name Pink became Alecia’s nickname when she was fifteen years old, as she blushed so often in embarrassment and identified very strongly with Mr. Pink from Quentin Tarantino's movie "Reservoir Dogs".
At the beginning of her musical career, 16-year-old P!nk sang with two other girls in a R&B group that never led to great success. P!nk's first solo album "Can’t Take Me Home" was released in the US in 2000. The success was limited to the American area, but P!nk was able to expand her publicity as an opening act to *NSYNC. The singer landed her first number one hit together with Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil Kim in 2001 with her mega hit "Lady Marmalade" which has also been awarded numerous prizes. With her hit "Get The Party Started" which appeared on her second album "M!ssundaztood" she landed her first international chart success as a solo artist. The following singles of the album were also very successful internationally. In the UK "M!ssundaztood" was the second best selling album and the single "Just Like A Pill" reached number one in the British charts. P!nk's fourth album "I'm Not Dead" was a great success worldwide and even reached number one in the charts in Germany and Australia. Her singles "Stupid Girls" and "Dear Mr. President" sparked heated controversy in the media for their open criticism of prominent women and former President George W. Bush. After the release of her current album "Hurts 2B Human" P!nk was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the BRIT Awards.
