About Phantom of the Opera UK tour:

Based on the eponymous 1911 novel of Gaston Leroux, the Phantom of the Opera has been played as a very popular musical since 1986. The legendary music was written by Sir Andrew Loyd Webber and Charles Hart. With over 130 million visitors in 27 countries the Phantom of the Opera is regarded as the most popular musical in the world.

The plot of the story plays in Paris where the young and beautiful soprano Christine Daaé becomes the obsession of a deformed musical genius – the phantom – who lives underground beneath the Paris Opéra House where he is simply known as the Opera Ghost. The phantom secretly tutors Christine while he terrorizes the rest of the cast so his protégé Christine is given several lead roles in the opera. One day, Christine meets her childhood love Raoul. When the two fall back in love with each other the phantom decides to kidnap Christine and lock her up in his hideout. It is now on Raoul to stop the phantom and free Christine.

In 1986 the musical opened in London’s Her Majesty’s Theatre and on Broadway where it is the longest running musical in Broadway history. Since then it has been playing in London and New York with occasional tours in hundreds of cities around the globe. In 2020 the musical will finally tour the UK and Ireland again!
