About Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams was born in 1973 in Virginia Beach. In seventh grade, he met his future The Neptunes bandmate Chad Hugo at a talent workshop. The two began making music together and thus laid the foundation for their future musical career. A short time later, the two were discovered by P. Diddy and committed to the production of artists such as Noreaga and Mase. In 1999, Pharrell Williams made his big breakthrough with the production of Kelis debut album "Kaleidoscope". Pharrell and his band The Neptunes were named Producers of the Year in 2002. Other successful productions include "Hot In Here" by Nelly and "I'm A Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears. Pharrell's first solo single, "Frontin", which he recorded with Jay-Z and which appeared on the 2003 album "The Neptunes Present - Clones", became an absolute world hit. With Chad Hugo and the singer Shay Haley Pharrell Williams also plays in the band N.E.R.D.
In 2006, Pharrell Williams released his debut album "In My Mind", in which he worked with popular artists including Kanye West, Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani and Nelly. The album reached number three on the US charts. In 2007, Pharrell founded the hip-hop group Child Rebel Soldier with Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. He also contributed the soundtrack to all three parts of the movie "Despicable Me". His first number one hit as a solo artist was the single "Happy", which topped the charts in nine different countries.
Throughout his career, Pharrell Williams has produced songs for music legends like Madonna, Snoop Dogg, Daft Punk and Beyoncé.
