Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Perez, grew up with poetry at an early age: his parents let him learn the poems of the Cuban poet Jose Martí by heart. Later, the rapper said this laid the foundation stone for his music career. After he started dealing drugs at the age of 16, his mother sent Pitbull to the children's home, where he grew up during his teenage years. After high school, he quickly realized that he wanted to concentrate exclusively on his rap career.
In 2002, Pitbull made his first recording on Lil Jon's album "Kings Of Crunk". This and the song "Oye", which was used for the soundtrack of "2 Fast 2 Furious", gave Pitbull reputation in the music world.
Pitbull's debut album called "M.I.A.M.I" was released in 2004 and was produced entirely by Lil Jon. The song "Culo" catapulted the rapper directly into the American charts.
In the next few years, Pitbull released two more albums before he reached the top ten of the American album charts with "Rebelution" in 2009. With the single "I Know You Want Me", which in 2009 was the most watched video of the year, he finally made his international breakthrough.
For his album "Planet Pit" he worked with high-ranking artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Sean Paul, Chris Brown and David Guetta. The song "Give Me Everything" even reached the top of the charts in the UK and the US.
The rapper could celebrate another success in 2012 with his single "Back In Time", which was part of the soundtrack for the film "Men In Black III".
For the album "Global Warning", which also appeared in 2012, he worked together with great artists like Kesha, Shakira, Usher and Jennifer Lopez.
With his song "We Are One (Ole Ola)" Pitbull even managed to create the official song of the 2014 football world cup in Brazil. The song appeared on the album "Globalization".
His current album "Climate Change" was released in March 2017.
Pitbull will be the opening act of Britney Spears this summer.
