About Shaggy:

Orville Richard Burrell was born in 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica, under poor circumstances. His friends called him Shaggy after a character from Scooby-Doo. When Shaggy was 18 years old, his family emigrated to Brooklyn. Soon the young musician found a record company that signed him. However, Shaggy couldn’t live off his first releases, which were played in New York reggae clubs. After joining the US Marine Corps and being deployed in Iraq, the singer realized that there was no alternative to a music career for him.
With a cover of Prince Buster's "Oh Carolina" Shaggy landed his first hit and climbed to the top of the charts with his album "Pure Pleasure". With his single "Boombastic" from 1995, Shaggy finally became a world star and is still one of the most successful Reggae stars in the world.
After his less successful album "Midnite Lover", the musician came back again in 2001 with "Hot Shot". Especially the songs "It Wasn't Me", "Angel" and "Luv me, Luv Me" achieved cult status. For the 2005 released album “Clothes Drop”, Shaggy got will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls on board.
After further releases, which could hardly tie in with old successes, Shaggy recorded the album "44/876" with singer Sting at the beginning of 2018. The reggae artist presents the album together with Sting on their 2018 USA tour.
