Taylor Swift facts

Taylor Swift was born in 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania. From an early age on, she was interested in country music, especially from female artists like Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes.
As a child, she already proved her musical talent: At age ten, Swift participated in numerous karaoke competitions and sang self-written songs at festivals and events. After learning how to play the guitar, she was discovered and contracted by the record label Big Machine Records when she was 14 years old. Her family then moved to Tennessee with her.
In 2006, Taylor Swift's debut single "Tim McGraw" landed on the sixth place in the American country charts. Her debut album "Taylor Swift" landed on number five in the US charts and was awarded platinum five times. In the US country charts, four songs of this album were in the top ten.
Taylor Swift's second album "Fearless" was released in 2008 and became the best selling album of the year in the United States in 2009. The song "Love Story" was downloaded more than 2.6 million times, making it the most downloaded country song of all time. The song "You Belong With Me" reached the first place in the country charts in 2009. In 2010, Taylor Swift received four Grammy Awards and toured Australia as the opening act for Gloriana.
In addition to her music, Taylor Swift also demonstrated her acting talents: In "Hannah Montana - The Movie" the singer played no other than herself next to Miley Cyrus.
Taylor Swift's third album "Speak Now", released in 2010, sold more than a million copies in the first week. She received a Grammy for the song "Mean".
The success of the singer also continued with her 2014 released fifth studio album "1989". On this album she turned away from the country genre and produced commercial pop songs for the first time. Known and successful releases of the album include "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space".
On October 27, 2017, Taylor Swift's album "Reputation" was released by Universal Music. The pre-released single "Look What You Made Me Do" ended up in the top ten of the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. In the UK and the US, the single became a number one hit. In the song "End Game" Ed Sheeran and the rapper Future can be heard as guest musicians.
In 2019 she released the single "Me!" featuring Brandon Urie from Panic! at the Disco. The single will appear on Swift's upcoming album "Lover".
