About The Prodigy

The Prodigy made break beats and the Big Beat genre, which is also covered by Fatboy Slim and the Chemical Brothers, popular in the 1990s, while also incorporating elements of punk rock and techno.
The band consists of the three members Liam Howlett, the head of the band, Keith Flint and the MC Maxim Palmer.
1991 the single "Charly” was released which included melodies from British children's television series and had great success with that. A short time later, The Prodigy released the album "Experience", with which they gained much public attention. For their next album "Music For The Jilted Generation" they experimented with other styles such as jazz funk, guitar music and hip-hop. The album reached number one in the UK album charts and sold over a million copies. For this success the band was awarded a MTV Music Award in the category "Best Dance Act" in 1995.
1996 the hit single "Firestarter" came out, in which Keith Flint took over the vocals for the first time. After the video was shown on British television, the British TV station BBC was exposed to a rush of complaints about the lyrics and the behavior of Flint in the video clip. Despite the controversy, the single sold over 750,000 copies in the first six weeks. With the second single "Breathe", which marks the biggest success of the band until today, The Prodigy finally made the breakthrough. The album "The Fat Of The Land" was released in 1997 and propelled to number one in the charts in 27 countries and was the best-selling album of the year. After release, The Prodigy went on a world tour which lasted almost two years.
With the release of the video for the song "Smack My Bitch Up", the band made headlines in late 1997: Due to the drug and violence excesses that are shown in it, the video was banned in the US, UK and other countries. In response, Howlett announced that there would be no more albums. In the following years, the band appeared at several festivals, but did not publish any new tracks for years.
In 2004, the long awaited fourth album "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned" finally appeared but could not convince the critics. The album "Invaders Must Die" hit the market in 2009 and was well received by the public.
The Prodigy has announced their new album "No Tourists" and their Germany tour for the end of 2018.
