Dublin is a very nice and special city and its definitely getting more special when it comes to the Christmas days. The sympathetic town turns on the thousands and thousands of lights which are placed all around the city to show the whole world how nice the Christmas-Wonderland can look like. During the Christmas Days the city of Dublin turns into a city full of colours. If you should plan to come over to make a sightseeing tour across the town, make sure to visit some of the wonderful Christmas Markets, which are situated all around the town. The Ha´penny Christmas Market

Don’t miss out to come to Grand Social, a huge and well-known bar, which is situated over the Ha’penny bridge. Its right next to the city centre so that means for you that you can come easily to the Christmas Market by bus, taxi or foot. Unlike the other Christmas Markets the Grand Social opens the doors to the Christmas Market only on Saturday – but it’s still totally worth it. The Ha´penny Market is the perfect chance to buy some very special gifts like for example vintage fashion or handmade accessories. Doors are open between 12pm and 6pm on 35 Liffey Street Lower.

The Dun Laoghaire market

You can find the famous Dun Laoghaire Christmas Market in the South County of Dublin. Just hop on the Dublin commuter train line, which is also known by the name DART, and enjoy one of the best Christmas Markets in town. Compared to the occur of some other Christmas Markets the Dun Laoghaire Market has a very maritime atmosphere because of the proximity to the sea. It’s the perfect place if you are looking for a nice Christmas spot for the afternoon. From late November until December 23rd you got the chance to take a look at this sympathetic market on weekends.

Smithfield Square Christmas Market

Its not necessary to drive to the suburbs of Dublin to experience the magic of a good and colourful Christmas Market – just go to the Market at Smithfield and you can get the whole experience right in town. Smithfield is a fun place to go all around the year because its situated near Temple Bar, Phoenix Park and Dublin Zoo. Visiting the Christmas Market is the perfect chance for you to discover the other highlights of the city as well. By the way – you will find the largest Christmas trees in town right here. Start: 24th November at Smithfield Square! Its open every day between 4pm and 9pm.

The Mart Market

Have you ever been to a Christmas Market in an old fire station? No? It’s definitely time for you to come to Rathmines Old Fire Station in Dublin to see a very unique market. Take your time to enjoy the food and soak in the great atmosphere while you examine the many pictures and paintings from local artists. The Christmas Market is open from 8th-9th, 13th-16th and 20th-23rd between 12pm and 7pm.

The Christmas Lights Switch-on at Grafton Street

The turning on of the Christmas lights is a ceremony which takes place every single year at Grafton Street. A huge crowd of people comes together at this date to celebrate the event. There are some similar events in Smithfield and Dundrum where you can see a ceremony of the same kind. If you should have any problems to find the locations of the ceremony, just follow some of the locals walking around in very funny Christmas-Costumes. They will definitely lead you to the right spot.
