Althought Madonna curently seems to be more concerned with the beauty and make-up industry, she confirmed in an interview with WWD in 2018 that she is also working on a new album which should be released in 2019. While promoting her newest line of skin care products the singer admitted: "I’m finishing my record, which I’m going to release next year. Yep, in between rose mist spray and serums, I’m actually making music. Can’t quit my day job." The new album would be her 14th studio album after "Rebel Heart" which appeared in 2015.
The release of her new album sparks the question about an upcoming tour of the singer in 2019. After an Italian online magazine announced "an international star of the highest caliber" will be performing at the Stadium of Messina in Sicily, Italy in June 2019, rumours have been buzzing around about Madonna, who has Italian roots, being this international star.
Additionally, Madonna is very likely to headline this years Glastonbury Festival in the UK. At the 2018 Glastonbury Festival visitors complaint about the lack of diversity as all headliners were male. Michael Eavis, the festival's organiser wants next Glastonbury to be the best one ever - with his and his daughter Emily's idol Madonna headlining the event. Madonna's appearance at the festival would be a dream come true for Eavis who already wanted to sogn her in 2000. Despite being in show business for 30 years now, Madonna has never performed at Glastonbury Festival before.
